About the Kent County Conservancy

Our Mission:

The Kent County Conservancy is dedicated to the conservation of agricultural and forest lands, historical and cultural preservation, and natural resource and ecosystem protection, in order to improve the economic character and quality of life for all residents.

Why Is The KCC Needed?

Preservation of property with natural or cultural significance has dramatic implications for the region and its economy. The quality of our communities and the local economy depends on preserving strategically important landscapes.

We must ensure the preservation of:

  • Sufficient working forests and crop lands
  • Headwaters and natural areas
  • Groundwater recharge resources, and
  • Historic sites
  • Wildlife habitat and wildlife

Additional efforts are needed in Kent County because our human community is consuming coastal lands faster than can be addressed by government alone.

The KCC uses private market mechanisms and incentives to encourage protection or our county's valuable ecological and community resources.
